The First $1,000 Starts with One Problem Worth Solving
SHIFT Enterprise Academy | Economic Mobility Field Notes
You do not need to have everything figured out. You need a real problem, a person experiencing it, and the discipline to offer a useful solution. This is how we move from inspiration to enterprise.
Start with people, not the product
Your first assignment: write down ten problems people mention repeatedly in your community, at work, and online. Do not begin with your favorite product idea. Begin with people.
Interview five prospective customers
Over the next seven days, choose one group of people you understand. Interview at least five prospective customers. Ask: What is difficult? What have you already tried? What happens when this problem remains unsolved? What would a good outcome look like?
Score the opportunity
Next, score your opportunities. Is the problem urgent? Is it common? Can you reach the people affected? Can you help credibly? Would they consider paying for a solution?
Write a clear offer
Then write a clear offer: I help [a specific person] achieve [a specific outcome] with [a practical tool or service].
Use the SHIFT Approach
The SHIFT Approach is our compass: Save Your Money. Help Your Family. Imagine Your Goals. Follow Directions. Think Accurately. Use these principles to turn intention into accountable action.
